Are you considering Penticton newborn photography but have some questions?

Don't worry, I'm here to help!

As an in-home lifestyle Penticton newborn photographer, I understand the value and importance of capturing these early moments of your baby's life!

When I had my baby, it was of the utmost importance to me to have a photographer. Early on in my pregnancy, I hired a doula + birth photographer and she captured my maternity, birth, newborn, and six month photos. I've looked back at these photos on a regular basis ever since and I cherish them SO much!

Let's dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography.

“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?” It's important to choose a photographer who has experience working with infants and in my opinion, knowledge of the fourth trimester/postpartum! I am a mom myself and have experience working with newborns and their families, and further education as a postpartum doula. I'm dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful, timeless memories that you'll cherish for years to come.

“What can I expect during a newborn photography session?” During a newborn photography session, I'll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby, and guide you through the posing process while keeping my eye out for candid moments like cuddles and feeding. Parents, siblings, and pets will be included in photos. If you have any specific poses or special items like a stuffy or blanket in mind, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.

To capture the best fresh baby moments, schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible, ideally within the first two weeks of your baby's life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability. If you don't mind baby being a bit older (keeping in mind they change so quickly!) we can still have beautiful family photos with an older newborn.

“Why should I choose a session at home?” As an in-home Penticton newborn photographer, I love capturing newborns and babies in your home for two reasons!

Firstly, as a freshly postpartum mom, you will feel most comfortable at home. Being comfortable will be reflected in your images: cozy family cuddles, breastfeeding and skin to skin, etc.

Secondly, this is a snapshot in time! Having your home be part of the images reflects where you brought your newborn home to, and I feel this is special in itself.

Are you wondering if your home has to be perfect to be able to have an in-home newborn photographer? The answer is no! However, we will need a few things: a room with enough windows/light, and to declutter this room prior to the session. Picking one or two rooms to stay in will help you prioritize any decluttering so that you do not feel overwhelmed leading up to the session. (And here is a tip: leave an empty basket out during the session... if there are any spare items laying around like a forgotten pacifier or TV remote... I can toss it in the basket for you!)

“How much does Penticton newborn photography cost?” Newborn photography sessions can range from $550 to $1,500+, depending on what you decide to order. I know this might seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I'm dedicated to providing high-quality images & products that you'll cherish for a lifetime! While I always offer digital files, I love seeing printed photos delivered to families. Whether that is a specially-framed image for the baby's room, or an album with your full session to show family and friends, I offer these items for your most important family photos.

“When will I get my photos?” After the session, you can expect to receive the final edited photos within 3 weeks. I offer a range of packages that include both digital files and prints. I'm happy to work with you to create a customized package that meets your specific needs.

So, there you have it! Newborn photography is a wonderful way to capture the early moments of your baby's life and I do my best to take care of all the details, so all you have to do is show up!
